Dog jog is will be held Saturday rain or shine. According to many weather forecasts, the morning hours of Saturday may be the only dry hours of the weekend, so take advantage while you can and bring your dog for some exercise.
Presented by the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association Foundation, Atlanta Dog Jog is a highly anticipated annual event for dogs and their people in Atlanta's Piedmont Park. The fun- run and walk features a 1-mile and 2-mile course. Both are optimal for participants of all athletic levels, from competitive runners to casual walkers. Strollers and wagons are permitted.
Proceeds of the 2013 event will benefit both the VetHeart of Georgia (formerly the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association (GVMA) Foundation) and Canine Assistants, an Alpharetta, GA based non-profit organization that breeds, raises and trains working dogs for children and adults with physical disabilities and seizure disorders.

Special Requirements
- All dogs entered must have proof of current rabies vaccination.
- By law, all dogs must be licensed.
- All participants must sign an injury/illness waiver.
- All dogs must be leashed at all times.
- All dogs must compete on a leash no longer than 6 feet.
- Puppies under 6 months of age may not compete in the 2-mile event.
- Female dogs in heat will not be allowed to participate.
- All decisions from judges are final.
At
the discretion of the race
director or race veterinarian, dogs whose behavior is unruly or
might prove hazardous to other participants, dogs, or spectators,
may be requested to leave.
Individuals may run with more than one dog provided that each dog is officially entered and properly leashed.
Important: This event is safe for the canine runner that has been properly trained. In the case of an animal emergency, veterinary aid will be available. However, you are responsible for the pre-conditioning of your pet.
LocationThe Start/Finish Line is located between the tennis courts and the swim
center.
Parking is available on streets
surrounding the park or in the new parking deck, accessed from
the Atlanta Botanical Garden entry located off Piedmont Drive
or from Worchester Drive, which is located off Monroe Drive.
